Macondo

Macondo

Macondo is a translation typeface created for the book Cien Años de Soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude). Inspired by the bookʼs ethereal essence, Macondo evokes an organic & delicate charm, seamlessly weaving the reader into the tapestry of the story.

Due to the book's length (500+ pages), this typeface was designed to work at a small point size and for long paragraphs of text. Macondoʼs cupped serifs and tapered terminals make it complex and untamed. It is named after the small Colombian village where this tale unfolds.

Macondo was designed as my final project for the Typography Design Program at Cooper Type.
